Tool Failure Review

Most customers struggle with poor machining and tooling related issues. The finger pointing is continuous because the tooling company blames the process conditions, the coolant impacts the process conditions and its filtration system, the machine design and programming greatly can impact the equation, as does the metallurgy. Even with ideal equipment and operating conditions, the entire process is seldom optimized. For that past 35 years our team has been detecting the specific problems, identifying the cause and providing the cures for tool failure.

There are four distinctive types of wear patterns found on used low speed tools such as broach tools, hobs, and shapers.  Eleven fairly distinctive types of wear patterns are found on disposable inserts, drills, reamers, taps, endmills and other tools. Knowing the conditions of your operation, we can provide solutions to eliminate nagging problems or recommend changes to reduce your cost of manufacturing.

Each manufacturing process has its unique issues involving plant practices, knowledge levels, attention to detail, quality requirements and production criteria.  Contact us for information on how we can improve your manufacturing condition as well as your profitability.
